Cellist Kerri McGonigle is the Artistic Director of the Academy Concert Series. A recipient of the Margarita Heron Pine String Prize and the Beryl Barns Graduate Scholarship, Kerri won Premier Prix with unanimous distinction in violoncello and chamber music from the Gennevilliers Conservatory while studying in Paris. While completing an Advanced Certificate in Baroque cello through the University of Toronto, she performed as a soloist with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.
The music of Vivaldi, and Corelli emanate the passion, temperament and beauty of Italian Baroque music and is a an inspiration for other composers, including Handel, who integrated these stylistic elements into his own compositions. “Inspired by Italy: Corelli, Vivaldi and Handel” features returning special guest, soprano Nathalie Paulin and harpsichordist Christopher Bagan.
“A Poe Cabaret” was co-commissioned by Luminato and the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and is a program co-created, curated and performed by Tom Allen and Lori Gemmell. Music of Debussy, Caplet and Alexina Louie are all woven together through story telling, narration and poetry.
